Our Library is a place for quiet study, reading and research. It is open to everyone, every day, and there is always someone available to help students find the reading book or piece of information they need, whether that is for school work or personal interest.
There are currently two members of staff based in the library, Mrs D Nelmes, Learning Resource Manager and Mrs C Harvey, Librarian.
The Library is open every day between 7:30am and 4:30pm for all students and until 6:00pm for 6th form students, and is always supervised by a member of staff.
We house a large selection of both fiction and non fiction books which we have recently added to with over 200 new titles including Accelerated Reader books. We also have a selection of periodicals including topical magazines and a daily newspaper. We are pleased to announce that our 'Revision Corner' is now functional and holds a selection of revision guides for each subject and a quiet area for students to sit and read/choose the appropriate guides for their course. Also recently added is our new 'Young Adult' section that is exclusively for our 6th Form students.
In the library we have a selection of stationery materials available to purchase during break and lunchtimes which include:
Homework Club takes place in the Library after school every afternoon, supervised by teaching assistants and supported by Library staff.
Students can use the library's computers to complete Accelerated Reader Quizes, research and print their homework or coursework.
To ensure the library remains an area conducive to quiet study, the following Library Expectations are in place:
We welcome all students to come along and share our enthusiasm for reading, knowledge and ultimately books!
"A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people - people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book."
